Underealm, the metal project known for blending heavy, thrash, and metalcore elements, has just unveiled its latest work, Second, now available on all major digital platforms.
This EP marks a more aggressive and refined chapter for the band. With standout vocal performances alternating between clean and guttural styles, Second also introduces heavier, meticulously crafted riffs. The band took a bold step by lowering their typical tuning, creating a darker, more contemporary soundscape that immerses listeners in a powerful new atmosphere.
Adding contrast to the intensity is the third track, "In Me", a poignant power ballad that diverges from the EP’s overall tone. This song captivates with its emotional depth and evocative lyrics, showcasing a different facet of the band’s artistry.
The title, Second, carries rich symbolism and multiple interpretations. It represents evolution—signifying the band’s progression to a new phase—duality, with two perspectives or sides to a story, and time, emphasizing the fleeting moments that define our lives. Furthermore, the number 2 itself conveys balance and harmony, themes that resonate throughout the EP.
Second was recorded at Calhambirintho Studio in Porto, Portugal, with mixing and mastering handled by Filipe Barbosa of Primal Core Studio, ensuring a polished and dynamic listening experience.
