Swedish progressive rock band Eyescream is proud to announce the release of their latest instrumental album, "Friendly Fonk." This project continues the band's long tradition of creating eclectic and heart-driven music, combining elements of progressive rock, metal, and independent pop with a fresh new twist.
Eyescream formed in 1995 in Halmstad, Sweden, with founding members Peter Jöeäär (guitar), Johan Hallgren (bass), and Cecilia Hallgren (lead vocals, keyboards), later joined by Ted Nilsson (drums). The band quickly built a reputation for their genre-defying sound and captivating live performances. After years of playing in cover bands, they decided to pursue their own creative vision, resulting in a rich catalog of unique original compositions.
"Friendly Fonk" was originally conceived as an instrumental-only album, but during the creative process, the band chose to incorporate tracks with vocals to enhance its dynamic range. The result is a vibrant mix of melodic progressions, intricate riffs, and rhythmic grooves, bringing together all the influences that have shaped Eyescream’s music over the years. The title, "Friendly Fonk," reflects the playful, funky energy that permeates the record, inviting listeners on an uplifting and joyful journey.
Over the years, Eyescream has evolved into a versatile and innovative band, releasing numerous albums and EPs, including "The Other Side of Us" (2019), "Bright Side of Misery" (2019), "Yesterdays Future" (2020), and "The Courage to Compromise" (2021). Their latest work, "Four Minutes In Eternity" (2022), was a creatively adventurous project, featuring a title track that combined different musical ideas into a cohesive, four-minute composition.
The EP has already caught the attention of long-time fans and new listeners alike, with its blend of intricate instrumental passages and vibrant melodies. As Eyescream continues to evolve, they remain open to collaboration and look forward to taking their music on the road, welcoming audiences into their world of boundless creativity.
