Imaginal Cells, the modern progressive metal band rooted in Phoenix, AZ, is excited to announce the release of their latest single, "Children of the Grave." This track marks the third release from their highly anticipated debut concept album, Purified. With "Children of the Grave," Imaginal Cells pays homage to the legendary Black Sabbath, adding their unique modern twist to this classic anthem.
Imaginal Cells, comprised of career musicians and members from the New Wave of British Heavy Metal cult classic band Sacred Rite, continue to forge their path in the metal scene. The band features Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award-winning artists and includes former members of Sacred Rite (Medusa/Restless Records, Axe Killer Records, No Remorse). Their distinctive sound blends organic tones, pounding tribal polyrhythms, lush vocal harmonies, and the sampled sounds of nature, creating a rich and immersive musical experience.
About Purified: Purified is an elaborate concept album inspired by the apocalyptic prophecies of various Native American tribal elders, who have warned of cataclysmic immune responses to humanity’s imbalance with the living Earth. The album addresses sociopolitical and environmental challenges through dynamic and densely interwoven songs, layered with lush soundscapes and compelling musical passages. The concept revolves around the contagious psychospiritual disease, Wetiko, described in Algonquian folklore as a cannibalistic mind parasite embodying gluttony, selfishness, and greed.
The album is mixed by multiple award-winning Jimmy Caterine and mastered by industry legend Maor Appelbaum, ensuring a high-quality production ready for both vinyl and digital release.
