Idiota Releases Self-Titled Debut EP Featuring New Track "Wish You Weren't,"

The new, self-titled EP by Idiota, released on February 23rd, 2024, delivers an indie rock experience packed with garage revival energy and indie pop sensibilities. This five-track record, spanning around 17 minutes, showcases catchy, memorable melodies with jangly guitars and a prominent vocal style that pulls listeners into a world of raw emotion and introspective themes.

At the heart of the EP is Wish You Weren't, a track that dives into the emotional depths of envy, exploring the complex feelings of Invidia. This song is a vivid exploration of the darker facets of human nature, enhanced by the EP’s stripped-down yet infectious sound. Frontman Matthew Robinson, who spent much of the early 2000s writing and playing guitar in Connecticut punk and indie bands, channels his storytelling abilities to create a unique sonic and lyrical landscape.

Robinson previously released two EPs under the name Ivydrive and later embarked on a solo project with an electronic indie pop album, Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Violet. However, after recording a few demos, he paused his music career to focus on visual art and public education. Reigniting his passion for music in recent years, Robinson's latest work in Idiota captures years of experience and inspiration, written in one burst of creativity.

Joining Robinson is Mike Rasimas, a seasoned musician, composer, and educator whose personal project, M. Roosevelt, has over 21 releases on Bandcamp. The two met in Beacon, NY, bonded over shared musical interests, and began refining the sound that would define Idiota. Their collaborative energy has fueled this new project, which stands as a testament to their shared vision and commitment to raw, unfiltered music.

Idiota’s debut EP is available on all major streaming platforms, marking a fresh chapter as the band continues to expand and create new material. With its introspective lyrics, nostalgic yet contemporary sound, and thought-provoking themes, Idiota delivers an unforgettable listening experience.
